HOUSTON (March 31, 2019) – Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Adam Cianciarulo showcased noticeable maturity during the triple crown format as he was forced to come through the pack in two of the three main events, ultimately finishing fourth overall with a 1-10-3 inside NRG Stadium. Rookie Garrett Marchbanks was able to find the podium in the second main event but after going down on the opening lap of the third race was forced to finish ninth overall. Cianciarulo leaves Texas with a five-point lead in the standings with two races remaining in the Western Regional 250SX Championship.

Cianciarulo started the day first in qualifying and was able to bring that speed into the opening main event, winning the race. At the start of the second main event, Cianciarulo was forced to go off the track in the first turn, dropping him back 10th. As he was moving through the pack, Cianciarulo went down and had to use every last second to make up as many spots as he could, finishing 10th.

With one more main event remaining, the gate dropped and Cianciarulo narrowly missed his teammate going down. Inside the top six, Cianciarulo was focused on moving into the top five when another rider went down right in front of him. This time he was unable to avoid the carnage and hit the dirt himself. He remounted quickly and was picking off riders until the final laps where he passed for third, giving him a 1-10-3 score for fourth overall.

“Tonight was a big test for me,” said Cianciarulo. “Yes I lost points and I am not happy about that, but I think I did my best to keep my composure to not make a bad situation worse. It kills me that I made the mistake in the second main, and the third main event wasn’t my fault, but I can’t dwell on this. I have to learn from it and move on. We get a week off to think about it - not sure if it's good or bad - but we’ll be ready when we come to Denver in two weeks.”

Marchbanks qualified ninth coming into the night show. At the start of the main event, Marchbanks had a rough start in 18th but was able to get all the way back up to 10th. In the second main event he got a great start and was able to take back third place on the final lap to take the final podium spot. The race ended before it started in the final main event as Marchbanks went down in the first turn and was forced to retire early. His 10-3-19 was still good enough for ninth overall.

“These triple crowns haven’t been very kind to me overall, but it was really great getting on the podium in the second race,” said Marchbanks. “I felt so good in that second race and really wish I could have been out there for the final one. I’m definitely glad to get a weekend off and come back strong in Denver.”
